Obafemi Awolowo University To Host EduNet 2014 Conference

The EduNet 2014 Conference is hosted by the Information Technology and Communications Unit (INTECU) and the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Development Studies (IFEDS) of Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife Nigeria in Partnership with Tel Aviv University Entrepreneurship Centre (StarTAU), Israel.

About EduNet

Education Network Conference tagged EduNet Conference was instituted in 2010 by Emerging Media in response to the ongoing needs for a platform to share technology based knowledge, ideas and network amongst stakeholders in the IT industry, the Government and the Nigerian Universities. It is focused at exploring the impact and use of Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs) in the country’s higher education community.

Over the years this conference has become the leading conference in Nigeria that brings Higher Education Community together with key players in the Technology ecosystem. The event creates an environment to learn, network, share ideas that will enhance the effective use of new technologies in the university and other Institutions of higher learning in Nigeria thereby encouraging Research and Technology development.

It is hosted each year in partnership with the ICT Centres of Nigerian Universities. Three editions of the conference have been hosted in partnership with the Centre for Information Technology and Systems, University of Lagos.

EduNet Conference has been endorsed by the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), Information Technology Association of Nigeria (ITAN), Institute of Software Practitioners of Nigeria (ISPON) and Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria(ATCON).

Each year based on the theme, delegates at EduNet conference are drawn from education and training institutions, Government and regulatory authorities, International organizations  fostering Education and Technology, ICT experts, stakeholders in Research and Education networks, service providers, Edu-based startups, IT companies involved in e-Learning, Cloud computing, online marketing, e-commerce technology, Web technology, content development, researchers and students.

The presentations at the conference provide quality education and answers to issues based on the theme for the year. Speakers are distinguished technology professionals, academics, organizations and government agencies. The discussions session explore in deeper perspective the topics and issues in focus.

EduNet exhibitions provide great opportunity for tech brands who exhibit their products and services at the conference. Participants are provided with the needed marketplace that will help them implement strategies learnt from the presentations. In 2012, EduNet Conference was held on the 31st July, organized by Emerging Media in partnership with Centre for Information Technology and Systems of the University of Lagos and the Internet Exchange Point of Nigeria (IXPN) with representation from World Bank, .The theme of that conference was Research and Education Network in Nigeria: Opportunities and Challenges. After that conference,  a lot of work has been going on building the Nigeria Research and Education Network (ngREN).
