UEW TO NURTURE AFFILIATE INSTITUTIONS TO REALIZE THEIR FULL POTENTIALS

The Vice-Chancellor has reiterate the University of Education, Winneba’s resolve to nurture all institutions affiliated to it to their full potentials. He made this known during the signing of an MOU with Jackson Educational Complex to give affiliation status to them on Friday December 21, 2012 at the University of Education, Winneba.
In a short address prior to the signing of the MOU, the Vice-Chancellor observed that, no single group could fulfill the aspirations of Ghanaians for quality education hence the need for collaborations. He hoped as reciprocation to the university’s gesture of granting affiliation to some institutions, all affiliate institutions including Jackson Educational Complex would support government in its effort towards fulfilling its mandate in the area of providing quality education to the citizenry.
On his part, the registrar, Mr. C. Y. Akwaa-Mensah was of the hope that, the partnership will be fruitful to both institutions and the Country at large.
Jackson Educational Complex Located at Kumasi was established three (3) years ago and is the first private teacher training college running distance education programmes. It has thirty four (34) study centre spread across the ten regions of Ghana.
It has as its objective:
  • to train especially the youth to acquire high quality academic standard of education and or vocation as a good foundation to enable them achieve a brighter future through distance learning.
  • to equip students to gain admission to tertiary institutions to further their education.
  • reduce the rate of the school drop-outs in the country
  • assist in the human resource development of the nation
  • and provide weekend training to enable the trainees to be at their work places whiles pursuing further studies.
At the ceremony were the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Asabere-Ameyaw, the Registrar, Mr. C. Y. Akwaa-Mensah, Prof. Ebenezer Asafua Jackson (Director of Jackson Educational Complex), Mrs. Theodosia Jackson (Principal of Jackson Educational Complex) and a Senior Assistant Registrar at the Division of Academic Affairs, Mr. E. K. Brew.
