The University of Cape Coast has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Baldwin College and Bimaks College of Business and Health Sciences respectively at a ceremony at the University.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. D. D. Kuupole initialed for the University of Cape Coast, while the Presidents of Bimaks and Baldwin Colleges, Very Rev. Prof. David K. Dodoo and Dr. Akwasi A. Acheampong respectively signed for their institutions.

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding signified the formalisation and the commencement of the affiliation of the two colleges to the University of Cape Coast.

Before appending his signature to the documents, Prof. D. D. Kuupole said ‘the ceremony sets the framework for discussions on the way to go with the affiliation of the two institutions to the University’.

“It is our hope now that the relationship has been formalized; we will all go according to the dictates of the document. There will be challenges, but if we are convinced of what we are doing, we will succeed. The Memorandum of Understanding clearly spells out each other’s responsibilities; we want to be guided and have a fruitful collaboration between and among ourselves”, he added.

Prof. Kuupole described the two institutions as pacesetters since the right thing was being done first, that is signing the documents before the partnership started. This, he said, gave an indication that in the future they would be judged to have done things properly. He noted that, it was his belief that since they were beginning collectively on a sound note, they would act towards achieving the best for their institutions.

Prof. Kuupole urged the two institutions not to be worried if the mentoring institution demanded that the right things were done.“If we do not do the right way, we stand to be blamed, so bear with us if we appear to be too demanding. We are also being supervised, we are looking for quality”. He thanked the two institutions for their demonstration of trust in the university to mentor them as beginners.

Present at the ceremony were the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. John Nelson Buah, Registrar, Mr. John Kofi Nyan, Deputy Registrar, Division of Academic Affairs, Mr. Jeff T. Onyame and officials of both Baldwin and Bimaks Colleges.
