An 18-year-old Freshman dies on college campus after the door to an access tunnel fell on top of her head while she was registering for college classes at Jinan University in Shandong Province, according to the Jinan Times.

The mother of the young girl, who has been identified as Rong, was also injured in the leg, and now police are investigating the incident. “The poor girl died instantly and her mother looked like she fainted. The top of the building was probably under construction and workers had to remove the cover of the tunnel to go outside,” a witness told Jinan Times.

“If workers could have just warned people down there at the time, then this tragic accident probably wouldn’t have happened,” he added. Another witness also confirmed that the door dropped from a height of 20 meters and hit Rong.

Having seen the tragic news online, Chinese netizens prayed for the girl and expressed how they felt.
