Vice Chancellors of Nigerian universities will converge on the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) to deliberate on the various problems facing universities in the country.
Coming under the auspices of the Association of Vice Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (AVCNU) the chief executives would be seeking ways of addressing the recurring challenges of the university education in Nigeria.
Deputy Vice Chancellor of FUTA Prof. Adedayo Fasakin while addressing journalists in Akure yesterday said the Vice Chancellors would also be disposed to look at issues bordering on the strike action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities and other related issues.
He said; "FUTA has the human and material resources that can facilitate the conference success. The university has several local and international honours to herself in terms of attainment and recognition."
The conference theme is: 'The Nigerian Universities System and Challenges and Prospects of Globalization.'
Governors of Ondo, Osun, Ekiti and Kogi states are expected at the AVCNU conference.
