Education Ministry Receives RLG Sponsorship Package

The Rlg Foundation has handed over prizes totaling GH¢50,000 to the Ministry of Education towards this year's National Best Teacher Awards at a ceremony in Accra.

The Foundation sponsored the 2nd Runner up position of the National Best Teacher Awards with a 2012 comprehensively insured Nissan Sunny Salon car, a laptop computer, a desktop computer, a printer, and Rlg souvenirs.

It is the second time Rlg is supporting the annual awards scheme, with last year's edition being the first. This year's event, the 19th edition, took place in Wa in the Upper West Region on Saturday, October 5, 2013, which also marked World Teachers' Day.

Receiving the keys to the brand new spanking salon car, Alex Kyeremeh, Deputy Minister of Education in charge Pre-Tertiary, thanked the Rlg Foundation for assisting the Ministry with the prizes for this year's awards. He indicated that Rlg sponsoring the awards again, this year, was enough demonstration of its unflinching commitment towards the attainment of high standards of education in Ghana.

The Manager of Rlg Foundation, Frazier Malcolm, said the gesture was borne out of the Foundation's appreciation of the crucial and important role played by teachers in shaping the destiny of our nation, by nurturing and honing the skills and talents of our children who are the future leaders.

"We also believe that teacher motivation is key to improving the standards of education, and our support today, is a clear manifestation of that belief, and also to reiterate our commitment to partner all stakeholders to enhance the quality of education in Ghana," he added.

The brief ceremony was witnessed by the top hierarchy of the Education Ministry, including Deputy Minister in charge of Tertiary Education Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Chief Director of the Ministry Mr. Enoch Cobbinah, and Madam Benedicta Naana Biney, Director-General of the Ghana Education Service, Executive Director of the Rlg Foundation Prosper Harrison Addo, Erick Houadjeto, a Board Member of the Foundation, and Kweku Obeng-Adjei of the Rlg Corporate Affairs Department.

The Rlg Foundation is the social investment management platform for all the Rlg Group's related initiatives across the various country operations. It was established in 2012 as a separate legal entity to direct and manage all Rlg Communications social investment programs in Ghana.

The Foundation demonstrates its commitment to Ghana's rapid socio-economic transformation by improving the wellbeing of communities in the areas of health & wellness, and education & empowerment.

The Foundation is funded by a percentage of profit after tax from Rlg Communications Limited's core business. The Foundation supports projects that are sustainable, impactful and benefits large number of people under the two focus areas of Health & Wellness, and Education & Empowerment.
