Proposed UWM world-class, public-private research centre |
The facility, called the Institute for Industrial Innovation, breaks ground in the summer. The 25,000-square-foot building will include state-of-the-art core laboratory facilities for use by a wide variety of academic and industry researchers. It will also have designated laboratories for researchers working on collaborative projects with other academic institutions or private companies.
The UWM Real Estate Foundation expects to complete the sale of the designated residential parcel to a private developer this year. Depending on the length of time needed for the approval process for the project, work to restore the existing historic buildings and construct complimentary infill building could begin in the fall of 2012.
