University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business is launching an online master’s in business administration program that will be available beginning in January.

The online program is designed for working professionals who are not able to adhere to a traditional school schedule. The program includes minimal on-campus requirements and can be completed in 21 months.

Courses will include two “live,” hour-long sessions per week, where students will log on at a specific time to interact with faculty and fellow students. Other coursework can be completed at times that work best for each student.

The online MBA program is modeled after the Smith School’s executive MBA program.

Students will choose one of four specialties — accounting, information systems and analytics, finance or marketing. The program will also cover business basics, including entrepreneurship, management, information systems and global economic development.

The program is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
