GES To Post Graduates Teachers To Basic Schools

Ghana Education Service
The Volta Regional Director of Ghana Education Service (GES), Mr Emmanuel Keteku, has said graduate teachers from tertiary institutions and especially those who did courses in child education would be re -posted to basic schools.

That, he said, was to ensure that pupils benefitted from the knowledge they acquired during their studies.

Mr Keteku said this during a three-day capacity building workshop for heads and assistant heads of senior high schools in the Volta Region at Ho.

It was organized by CHASS in collaboration with the Volta Regional Directorate of the GES.

He said the practice of posting teachers, who graduated in basic education from tertiary institutions to senior high schools, did not help the GES in tapping their knowledge and expertise.

Mr Keteku said it was important for graduate teachers who pursued courses in child education to understand that their services were needed at the basic level of education.

Professor Chris Awunyah, a Consultant, said the blueprint developed at the workshop would help in changing the dwindling fortunes of students from the Volta Region, adding that it was possible for the Volta Region to once again assume leadership role in student performance in the country.

The Chairman of the Volta Regional CHASS and the convener of the workshop, Mr Dzidzeme Sedanu- Kwawu,  said the essence of the seminar was to upgrade the heads of schools and their assistants in their daily duties.
