Prof Domwini Kuupole |
He was worried about the fact that some pastors encourage students only to pray while failing to highlight the need for students to study hard in order to excel in academics.
Prof. Kuupole, during a non-denominational thanksgiving service held on UCC campus, Sunday urged the students to ‘transform their prayers into action’ by sticking to their books.
The non-denominational service, which climaxed the year- long celebrations of the UCC Golden Jubilee, was attended by hundreds of students and other members of the University community as well as a cross-section of the general public.
The service was under the theme, “Our year of Jubilee”.
Scripture readings were taken from Leviticus 25:9-13, II Kings 8:1-6 and John 8:31-36 whilst hymns were sung and prayers said for the University, Ghana and the world at large.
The VC was grateful to God for bringing the university to its current status and prayed for more grace and blessings.
Reverend Dr. Alex Nana Yaw Obeng, Senior Pastor of the Living Springs Ministry and guest preacher for the occasion pointed out that the elements of jubilee were freedom, rest and restoration.
He urged the congregation to liberate themselves from their past sins and forgive one another in order to see the goodness of God and receive His blessings in abundance.
