UTME EXAM NSCDC to Deploy 10,000 personel Nationwide

Some 10,000 men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) will provide security at examination centres during the pilot Computer Based Test (CBT) of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in May.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB), organiser of the examination, said this in a statement signed by its Public Relation Officer, Mr Fabian Benjamin, made available on Monday in Lagos.

According to the statement, the CBT has been slated for May 18, weeks after the Paper Pencil Test (PPT) and the Dual Based Test (DBT) take place on April 27.

It said that the registrar of JAMB, Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, had met with top officials of NSCDC to fine tune the role of the men of the outfit in the conduct of the examination.

The statement quoted Ojerinde as commending the NSCDC for various achievements recorded by its corps and urging them to keep up the good work.

According to the statement, the JAMB registrar said Nigerians are beginning to appreciate the operations of the security outfit.

It quoted the Deputy Commandant-General (Operations), of the NSCDC, Mr Evans Ewurum, who was at the parley, as commending the management of the board for doing their job with vigour.

"I want to assure the board of the corps' cooperation in ensuring a successful conduct of the 2013 UTME as all state commandant of the NSCDC will be invited to Abuja for a briefing session.

"This will provide us with the platform that will assist in informing our personnel that will be deployed to participate in the conduct of the UTME on the new innovation," the statement quoted him as saying.

The statement said that the deputy commandant-general also appealed to the board to cooperate with NSCDC and provide them with the names and addresses of the centres, to enable them strategise. (NAN)
