MSCE Candidate Cheating During Exams Arrested
Police in Nkhotakota are keeping in custody Francis Nkhama, 23, on suspicion that he was cheating during the on-going Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examinations on 3 July, 2013.

Nkhotakota Police Assistant Spokesperson Williams Kaponda told Malawi News Agency (Mana) that in course of writing Physical Science paper, the suspect was found with another copy having a set of questions similar to the ones which appeared on the genuine paper.

"In addition, this alleged copy of questions had its corresponding answers. This prompted the invigilator to report the matter to police who arrested the suspect," he said.

Kaponda said the invigilator also noted that the handwriting of the suspect was similar to that of the one who produced the set of questions and their corresponding answers.

"However, the suspect has denied knowledge of the copy containing set of questions and their corresponding answers in question. The suspect says the alleged copy was only found close to where he sat but was not his," Kaponda said.

Nkhama, who was attending his education at Medi Private Secondary School, had not yet been granted bail as of 4 July 2013, meaning that he missed Mathematics Paper if he was supposed to sit for the paper.

The suspect hails from Kadula Village in area of Senior Chief Kanyenda in Nkhotakota district and was sitting for the examinations at Liudzi Cluster Centre in area of Traditional Authority Mwansambo in the district.
