600 Teachers Graduate From Asmara Community College of Education
A total of 600 teachers, 173 of whom comprise females, who have been attending a one-year certificate course in Asmara Community College of Education graduated today.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Alem Gebrekal, director of the college, pointed out that the government has been working in the domain of education on priority basis, giving rise to the launching of various schools in rural areas nationwide. He further indicated that the college is striving to meet the growing demand of teachers in this connection, besides calling on the graduating batch to play an exemplary role in their career.

23 of the graduates are trained in the Arabic language, and are expected to fill the gap as regards the existing shortage of teachers in the language. Besides, the college would start graduating teachers with diploma starting from next academic year.

Also speaking on the occasion, Mr. Petros Hailemariam, head of research and human resource development in the Ministry of Education, said that educational foundation predominantly depends on the excellence and hard work of teachers, and that stepped-up efforts are being exerted towards nurturing teachers both in quality and quantity.

A representative of the graduates expressed his colleagues' readiness of backing national endeavors of fostering quality of education and equipping the young generation with the necessary knowledge
