NDDC Embarks On N1.3 Billion Hostel At University of Benin

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) on Thursday said it had embarked on a N1.3 billion medical hostel at the University of Benin.

Mr Henry Okhuarobo, Commissioner representing Edo on the board of the commission told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Benin.He said that the 800 capacity hostel would be completed as soon as possible.

"The NDDC decided to embark on the project to ameliorate the hardship of students in area of accommodation.

"Apart of the accommodation, the provision of this hostel will further guarantee security of students since it is within the school premises" he said.

Okhuarobo however reiterated the commission's commitment to sustain its level of development in communities in oil producing areas to contribute to the economic wellbeing of the areas.

He however appealed to students to maintain the project sited in their school and see it as their own since it was meant for their usage.

NAN reports that the oil producing areas in the state are Ovia South-West Local Government, Ovia North-East Local Government Area, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area and Orhionmwon Local Government Area.
