Speaking at the official launch of the program early this week, the chief investigator of the Kofi Annan Institute for Conflict and Transformation Dr. Friederike Feuchte, said the exercise aims to unite youths and elders of various communities and to promote peace and reconciliation with in the country.
She said the project was also geared toward reconciling community residents for the betterment of the country. Dr. Friederike observed that since the Liberian Civil War, there are people in some communities, who have refused to reconcile with their neighbors all because their families were killed during the civil war.
At the same time, the research assistant of the program, Peter T. Teah told reporters that the youths are the future leaders of Liberia so the reconciliation process will go to every community in Monrovia.
He the awareness needs to be extended to other parts of the country to avoid people keeping animosity for their fellow men, and called on youths in various communities to see the reconciliation as a wonderful exercise.
The youth chair of Babylon community in Logan Town on Bushrod Island Samson Paye, said he was gratified to see people coming in their communities to talk about reconciliation.
