UWC Crowned University Sport South Africa (USSA) Dancesport Champion

The University of the Western Cape (UWC) Dancesport Team have once again shown their competitors why they deserve to be recognised as South Africa’s best university dancers in July 2013.

UWC successfully claimed the overall University Sport South Africa (USSA) Dancesport Championship title, the Team Match Latin  title and the Team Match Standard title this month.

The Vaal University of Technology (VUT) won the Formation category, with UWC finishing in second place, followed by the University of Limpopo coming in third.

The Western Cape Province team, consisting of UWC and Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) dancers, clinched the title for the Provincial Team Match Standard the Gauteng Province won the Provincial Team Match Latin Category.

This year’s competition will boast the largest number of participants of any USSA Dance tournament yet.

UWC Sport Manager and Tournament Manager, Edwin Wyngaard, said he was proud of UWC’s achievements and all the other participating institutions.

“On behalf of UWC sport administration and USSA Dancesport National Executive Committee, he would like to thank God for granting the universities and the various sporting bodies the opportunity to host this prestigious dance championship at UWC,” said Wyngaard.
