Plateau Lecturers to Pull Out of Strike

Some striking lecturers of the Plateau State government tertiary institutions yesterday resolved to pull out of the over three months strike under the Joint Union of Tertiary Institution Workers in the state.

The position of the lecturers which was made known in a press statement by a lawyer and lecturer of the Plateau State Polytechnic, Nanzil Jibrin Bani said, "The breaking out is in agreement with our colleagues from the School of Health, Pankshin, who also broke away from the Joint Union of Tertiary Institution Workers."

Bani added, "We are all tired of the strike and we have decided to look at the situation from the legal point of view. The joint union of Plateau State tertiary institutions is illegal because it is not in any way registered as a trade union. We are not working to sabotage ASUP, but to guide them to disengage from the joint trade union."

Responding, president of Joint Union of Tertiary Institution Workers in the state, Comrade Victor Dawurung, said the lecturers were insincere.
