Angola: University Students Told to Conduct Agro-Farming Research

Huambo — The students of the Faculty of Agrarian Sciences of José Eduardo dos Santos University based in central Huambo province have been urged to design food security projects and thus contribute to the Government's effort to fight famine and eradicate poverty.

This was said Wednesday in Huambo by the institution's teacher, David Kiala, during the opening of a seminar on Food Security, designed to motivate the third and fourth year students to draft end-of-course theses focusing on the fight of famine and eradication of poverty.

The official said on the occasion that the fight against famine and reduction of poverty is one of the challenges of the Angolan State.

To him, the Angolan students and those of the Faculty of Agrarian Sciences must contribute to improve the living of the country's populations.

He urged the students to design projects based on the national food strategy in order to contribute to improve the diet of the populations, so they gain access to quality food and in adequate variety.

David Kiala added that the Faculty of Agrarian Sciences is in a position to conduct research on factors that help diversify agro-farming production in a sustainable way and improve the levels of food supply and the populations' living.
