As a premier meeting for pharmacists in UAE DUPHAT offered a wide variety of scientific sessions, which included oral presentations, workshops, technology exhibits and poster presentations.
The students reported they thoroughly enjoyed the showcase of the most advanced, cutting-edge technologies of the evolving and emerging fields of Pharmacy and Medicine.
The DWC Health Sciences students actively participated in the event by taking part in the annual research competition with poster presentations of their final-year research projects supervised by DWC faculty Dr Lamia Al Hajri, Dr Steven Zay, Dr Amged Mustafa and Dr Nishi Singh.
Pharmacy students Shamma Abdulla, Fatima Ahmad and Judi Sadek covered the topic of the effects of caffeine consumption by pregnant mothers on maternal and fetal health and infant growth.
Students Hind Mohammad, Hind Abdurrahman, Noora Mohammad and Rawda Ali also presented their research work on the effects of prescription drugs on young users.
Dr Nishi Singh, DWC Health Sciences Chair, commented: “These crucial research studies were conducted and the results and analyses were accepted by the scientific jury for the poster sessions where more than 200 posters from the world over were presented.”
“The students’ high quality work drew noteworthy attention of the international participants at this meeting. It is important that our Health Sciences team continues to participate and be at the forefront of research and innovation in the healthcare sector that is growing by leaps and bounds every year,” she added.
