Speaking at the 19th matriculation of some 2,163 students for the 2013/2014 academic year on Wednesday, Prof Buor said the University was also working on the introduction of Bachelor of Laws (LLB) programme soon.
“Under the supervision of the VVU School of Business, we are working on the introduction of Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICA) tutorials at the Nyaniba Estate Centre of VVU in July this year”, he said.
The students who were matriculated included 981 regular students, 1,017 sandwich students and 165 students for the Distance Education Programme from nine African countries.
He said VVU was expanding its territory to ensure that applicants in all parts of the country had access to quality education.
To this end, he said, the University would soon establish a Distance Learning Centre at Takoradi next academic.
“We are also studying a request from some concerned Adventists at Bibiani in the Western Region for the establishment of a Distance Learning Centre”, he added.
Prof Buor said the National Accreditation Board had also upgraded the Kumasi Distance Learning Centre to a Campus status with the Tamale Distance Learning Centre also doing very well.
He said the programme, which recorded the highest intake of 223, was BSc Nursing adding that over 50 applicants could not be admitted due to inadequate facilities.
Prof Buor urged the newly admitted students to abide by all school rules and use appropriate channels to address their grievances as the University had a policy of protecting the rights of all.
He noted that although the VVU was a Christian institution, it respected the religious liberty of all students and told them to abide by the dressing code of the University to ensure modesty on campus.
He appealed to the students to eschew all forms of occultism as those who indulge in them would be dismissed outright.
