About 100 members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) were matriculated by the National Open University of Nigeria (NUON) on Saturday.
President of NURTW Comrade Najeem Usman Yasin disclosed this during the matriculation of NOUN Special Study Centre located at the top floor of the union's national secretariat in Abuja.
Yasin said the fully equipped and functional centre which matriculated 250 students was set up because of the importance the union attaches to education, while urging more union members and the public to take advantage of the facility to further their education.
"We established this study centre to make sure Nigerians especially our members continue with their education. At least we have over 100 of our members here; our children and members are over 100 that have registered," he said.
On her part, acting director of the centre, Patience Abimbola charged the students to maximise their time in studying, urging them to start right from the onset to work hard so that they excel at the end of their programme.
