The Bong County University Student Union has begun a one-week sit-in action on the grounds of the Capitol Building in Monrovia to press the county's Legislative Caucus to stop bickering.
The students said they were taking the action to compel the county's legislative caucus to hold their election, which they claim was serving as a barrier to the County Sitting.
The president of the Bong University Union, Mr. Germune Kwenah, told the Liberia News Agency Tuesday that the County Sitting is the highest decision making body of the county where important matters are addressed.
He said the payment of students' scholarship fees has not been made because of delays in holding of the caucus' elections, noting that beneficiaries of the scholarships are dropping out of school because of arrears owed various institutions.
Mr. Kwenah disclosed that because of this situation, most of their colleagues who cannot withstand the embarrassment have resolved to return to rural Liberia.
The Bong County Student Union is a conglomeration of Bong Students attending the various Universities in Liberia.
