The donation, which is part of the club’s corporate social responsibility, included school bags, exercise books, colour books, mathset, pencils, crayons, erasers, sharpeners, Water bottles, rulers and pens.
Mr Laud Ashon, Service Project Director of the Rotary Club of Accra Ring Road Central, said the club considered it appropriate to donate to school children living in the deprived areas whose parents could not afford to cater for them.
“Rotary is about service to mankind, and we believe that education is a valuable tool for development, that is why we are here today to distribute these items to the children to encourage many more of the village children to attend school” he said.
The head teacher of the school, Mr Emmanuel Appiah Korang thanked the members of the club for the kind gesture, and called for more support from other philanthropists.
Meanwhile, the club on Friday inaugurated a six-unit classroom block worth $ 120,000 for the people of Asempaneye.
