The group is the first batch to have successfully completed and received diplomas in Business and ICT, Software Engineering and Network Engineering since the establishment of the institute three years ago.

Mr Paul Apanga, Northern Regional Director of the Ghana Education Service speaking at the graduation ceremony at the weekend in Tamale, appealed to graduates to develop productive ICT programmes to address daily challenges especially in the area of teaching and learning.

He said government, recognizing the role ICT play in the socio-economic development of the country, had introduced ICT as an examinable subject in basic schools.

Mr Apanga called on the institute to partner with the Ghana Education Service to train more teachers in ICT to make teaching and learning more effective and attractive.

Mr Richmond Nkansah, Center Manager of Tamale, said the school which started with a population of 30 students, had increased to about 800 students.

He said the school had introduced new programs which include Bachelors of Science in ICT, Bachelor of Business Administration, Diploma in Oil and Gas Management and that they would focus on weekend classes for workers.

Mr Nkansah said as part of its social responsibility the school had conducted free ICT session for over 1,500 Junior High School students in the region and would continue to reach out to students in the various districts.
