Maktaba Awards 2013

The Maktaba Awards aim to recognise excellence in the provision of library and information services in Kenya. The awards are in partnership with Kenya Library Association, the Goethe-Institut Kenya, The Jomo Kenyatta Foundation and the Radio Africa Group.

The awards now in their fourth year were hosted in a glittering ceremony last Thursday evening at the National Museums of Kenya, Nairobi.

The Catholic University emerged the overall winner for its expansion and elaborate well equipped library that continues to enhance students success over the years and received a cheque of Sh250,000.

Other winners were the Management University of East Africa, Mount Kenya University, Buru Buru's Kenya National Library Services (KNLS) and Makini School.

Speaking during the event, chief guest, Vision 2030 director general Mugo Kibati urged the youth to continue building a reading culture and enhance the information capacity of young children.
