Adamus Resources Ghana Present Scholarship Worth U$70,000.00 To 50 Student

ADAMUS RESOURCES Ltd, a mining company operating in the Ellembelle District of the Western region has presented a cheque of U$70,000.00 as scholarship package to 50 brilliant but needy students from seven operational communities to pursue secondary, vocational/technical and tertiary education in the 2013/2014 Academic Year.

The Scholarship Scheme, dubbed "Nwoma Moale Ezukwa", which literally means "Money for Educational Assistance" was instituted during the 2011/2012 academic year as part of the mine Corporate Social Responsibility.

The scheme has so far benefited communities such as Salman, Anwia, Teleku Bokazo, Kikam and Aluku in the Ellembelle District. The rest are Akango and Duale in the Nzema East Municipality. The Company has plans to extend the scheme to other project impacted areas as and when it expands.

Launching the 2013/2014 edition of the scheme at Nkroful in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region, the Acting General Manager of Adamus Resources Ltd Mr. Gift Walter Agbey said education, water and sanitation and health are three thematic areas that are of primary concern to the company.

Mr. Walter Agbey stressed the importance of education to the socio-economic development of the nation, adding that education is the best legacy any parents can bequeath their children. He explained that the overall objective of the "Nwoma Moale Esukwa" is to promote education in the project area as a means to reduce poverty.

The Acting General Manager urged the beneficiary students to make good use of the opportunity by studying hard, warning that "the scholarship will be withdrawn from any student who failed to live up to expectation".

The District Chief Executive of the Ellembelle District Assembly Hon. Daniel Eshun who presided over the function, admonished the students to eschew indiscipline and study hard to complement the efforts being made by their parents to educate them. He passionately appealed to the Company to extend the scholarship scheme to cover some other non-impacted communities within the Nzemaland in the nearest future.

The Acting Chief of Kikam Divisional Area Nana Kwesi Amihere commended Adamus Resources Ltd for the scheme and advised the students against tendencies that are likely to derail gains being made by various stakeholders in their education.
