5.6 million students to benefit from Government text books

Government on Tuesday unveiled textbooks and teaching guides to benefit 5.6 million pupils in 23,000 primary and junior high schools across the country.

A statement issued by the Ministry of Education in Accra and copied to Ghana News Agency said the textbooks were procured with support from the UK.

It said the textbooks would ensure that each child gets a textbook in core subjects such as English, Mathematics and Science.

“The situation where two or more children in primary and junior high schools shared one text book will be a thing of the past,” the statement said.

The statement said Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, Minister of Education, expressed the hope that basic school teachers would take advantage of the provision of adequate textbooks and perform their duties very well.
