FinaTrade Foundation Donates 1,000 School Bags To Pupils

Finatrade Ghana Foundation
Finatrade Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of the Finatrade Group of the companies, has donated 1,000 school bags with other stationery to class one pupils in 18 basic schools within the Ledzokuku-Krowor Municipality.

The gesture by the Foundation was part of activities marking its 10th anniversary on the theme: “A Decade of Exemplary Corporate Social Responsibility”.

The recycled school bags which were produced by the Ghana School Bag Project, were paid for by Rice Master’s, the umbrella brand, owned and distributed by the Finatrade Group of Companies.

The additional items of stationary, erasers, pencils, ruler sets and the soya milk beverages for the children were contributions from the Finatrade Staff, who donated a day or more of their salary to the Foundation’s 10th Anniversary activities.

Mr Elias Daher, Human Resource Director of the Group, said the decision to present the items to the pupils within the Municipality was a way of appreciating the community in which the company operates.

He said the company recognized its immediate environment as key to their success story, saying the peaceful atmosphere had brought about growth and expansion.

He said for that reason the company decided to show appreciation to the Municipality by giving to pupils on their first day at school.

Mr John Awuni, the Executive Secretary of the Foundation, said since its inauguration about ten years ago, the Foundation had offered scholarships to over 166 students offering agricultural related courses in four universities.

“The Foundation has also made several donations in areas of health and humanitarian service and it is expected to continue in the coming year,” he said.
Ms Rosetta Addison Sackey, Municipal Director of Education, expressed gratitude to the Foundation for the gesture and said it would go a long way to encourage the pupils to attend school.
