Dufil Prima Partners "LEARN" On Summer School Initiative

In an effort to positively impact the nation's education sector, Dufil Prima Foods Plc, recently partnered the Lagos Empowerment and Resource Network (LEARN) on its 2013 Summer School Programme.

With the partnership, Dufil provided the students, drawn from 3 centres across Lagos, with T-shirts, caps, pens to exercise books and cash donations.

Mr. Tope Ashiwaju, the Public Relations Manager, Dufil Prima Foods Plc explained that the company's longstanding partnership with LEARN was hinged on the importance of education to the nation.

"Hard work remains the key to success, so students should endeavour to face their studies. They should avoid truancy so as not to become dropouts," said Ashiwaju while presenting the cheque and learning materials at one of the centres.

He added that Indomie as a brand had always been affiliated with the growth of the nation's education sector at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels, which informed its education-oriented Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.

Also commenting on the partnership, the Coordinator, LEARN, Mrs. Bisi Awoyemi, said Dufil Prima Foods had been of great support to LEARN since its inception 6 years ago. "The children always look forward to having a taste of their favourite noodles every afternoon, and this enables them pay attention in class and vocational activities without having to worry about where their lunch would come from," she said.

On her part, Miss. Adedayo Fadare, an SS3 Student of Babs Fafunwa Millennium Senior Secondary School, thanked the organizers for the Summer School for giving her the privilege to benefit from the summer school programme which she said has taught her good values and morals aside the core subjects that are being learnt in school. She also thanked Dufil Prima Foods for their great support by providing lunch and other educational materials.

The summer school, an initiative of the First Lady of Lagos State, Mrs.Emmanuella Fashola, ignites passion for learning among the youths by equipping them with leadership & entrepreneurial skills, sexuality education, good character development, vocational and other skills.
