ABU To Partner National Teachers Institute On Distance Learning

Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria has solicited for collaboration with the National Teachers Institute (NTI) to establish a distance learning centre in the university.

This was disclosed, when a three man delegation from the university led by the Dean Postgraduate school and acting Director of the University's Distance Learning centre Professor Adebayo Joshua paid a visit to the Director General of the institute, Dr. Aminu Ladan Sharehu in his office in Kaduna.

Speaking during the visit, Professor Adebayo stated the need for the university to collaborate with the NTI in the area of distance learning, especially in Post Graduate studies.

He expressed his gratitude to NTI for accepting to collaborate with the university towards deployment of the university's distance learning programme.

"We have quite a number of people who want to come to Ahmadu Bello University Zaria to do their Post Graduate studies, but you see we don't have the capacity to accommodate everybody," he said.

He added that, the NTI capacity in the area of educational training is not in doubt, saying that it will help ABU in that area, promising that the university will recommend for visiting lecturers from the institute to teach its students whenever the need arises.

Dr. Sharehu said that the institute as the largest and most refutable in the world in the area of teacher education, has been upgrading teachers academic qualification over the years, offering courses in various fields.
