UNILAG Receives Multi-Million Naira PTDF Building Project

New Department of Chemical Engineering
The consultancy firm handling one of the 3rd Phase Projects of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), YOLAS Consultants has completed and handed over the multi-million naira project located at the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Lagos to the University Management.

Speaking at the Handing-Over Ceremony on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, the Head of YOLAS Consultants, Engineer (Dr.) Lanre Oyenekan explained that project, a one-storey building, is equipped with modern amenities including a library, two standard laboratories, one 500-seater lecture hall and lecture rooms as well as a workshop, conference room, server room, store and internet room equipped with over 35 computers. He urged staff and students of the Department to make judicious use of the facilities.

In response, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Rahamon A. Bello, FAENg who took possession of the keys of the building, expressed appreciation to the Petroleum Technology Development Fund for investing in the infrastructural development of the University and commended YOLAS Consultants for providing the befitting edifice. He added that the facility would ensure that students of the University compete favourably with their counterparts all over the world.

The Vice-Chancellor immediately gave the keys to the building to the Head of Department of Chemical Engineering, Professor Layiwola Oyekunle, to commence immediate use of the project.

The Handing-Over Ceremony was witnessed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services), Professor Duro Oni; Registrar, Oluwarotimi O.A. Shodimu and Dean of the Faculty of Science, Professor Matthew Ilori among others.
