Basic Education Teachers ICT Training |
She said this at the closing ceremony of a week-long ICT training organised by the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), in collaboration with Dream Oval Foundation, Ashesi University College and MTN Ghana, for 100 basic education teachers from deprived schools in the Eastern Region.
The training is under the Dream Oval Foundation project, an initiative to provide teachers with free basic ICT training to enable them to use their newly acquired knowledge to enhance the teaching and learning experience in and out of the classroom.
Miss Belinda Ayesu of the Boso Anglican Primary School in the Asuogyaman District was presented with a laptop for outstanding performance during the training. In addition to her prize, an ICT centre would be established in her school, with a one-year Internet connectivity by MTN Ghana.
Other participants who were presented with prizes were Anomwah Donkor from the Mile 50 Junior High School, Maxwell Owusu from the Apirede Methodist Junior High School, Eva Smith from the Akrati Anglican Primary School and Richard Fiattu from the Nuaso Junior High School.
Mrs Amissah-Arthur explained that teachers could share their experiences with other teachers to enhance teaching.
“Build your network and put the skills you have acquired into practice,” she said.
She said the skills they had acquired should improve their teaching.
The Executive Secretary of the MTN Ghana Foundation, Mr Robert Kuzoe, said ICT had long moved from being a technical concept to a practical tool in everyday life.
It has become intrinsically woven into our very existence and well-being,” he said.
In their quest to bridge the gap between developed societies, the MTN Foundation has constructed 24 ICT centres in various educational institutions across the country. The purpose is also to help both teachers and students in basic schools to obtain basic ICT education.
