Open University Nigeria Establishes Center in Kebbi

The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has opened a study centre in Kebbi State. Daily Trust gathered that the facilities for the center which is located at Jega, were provided by the Kebbi State government.

At the handing over of the facilities in Jega, Vice Chancellor of NOUN, Professor Vincent Ado Tenebe, said the Open University is aimed at widening access to tertiary education. According to him, what the Open University offers is in line with world standard, just as it provides flexible opportunity for Nigerians to further their education. Tenebe added that Open University now has centers in virtually all the states with the country.

He added, "We also have special centers for the military, paramilitary and even prisoners.

NOUN also has over 120,000 students and has gotten approval to run 30 programmes and Kebbi would be the first beneficiary for the women programme center by the university."
