EFCC Investigates Bauchi Scholarship Board Staff |
Chairman of the board, Alhaji Muhammad Kulloma Hardawa, stated this yesterday while fielding questions from newsmen in Bauchi.
He said, "Sometime back, we noticed that certain amount of money was missing from our bank account and we set up an investigation team. Five staff of the board were indicted along side some bank staff and we transferred the matter to the EFCC for further investigation. They have commenced investigation into the matter and we are waiting for their findings".
Hardawa, who spoke through the Permanent Secretary of the board, Alhaji Yusuf Yerima, said, Governor Isa Yuguda has approved N425 million for payment of students allowances and the board has already commenced payment.
He said over 500 students of Bauchi State indigene were currently studying abroad and enjoying scholarships.
He added that the board is making all necessary arrangements to introduce electronic payment system (e-payment) in its efforts to reduce malpractices by staff and students.
