Dr. Mrs. Eugenia Date-Bah has donated a quantity of books to the University of Ghana. The books cover a wide range of topics including gender, labour issues, economics, politics and trade, among others.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony this morning, Dr. Mrs. Date-Bah explained that in the course of her professional career, she acquired a lot of books which she deemed appropriate to share with younger faculty; she was positive that the books will be invaluable resources to staff, students and faculty.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Professor Ernest Aryeetey, who received the books, said he was appreciative of her benevolence and expressed the hope that others will emulate her example in bringing knowledge to the doorstep of institutions of higher learning. He was optimistic the books will go a long way to supplement teaching materials in the University and especially in the Department of Sociology where the donation will go to.

The Head of Department of Sociology, Dr. Dan-Bright Dzorgbo who was particularly elated at the gesture said this was the first donation from a Ghanaian since he assumed office. While thanking her immensely for the books, he assured her that the books will be used for the purposes for which they were donated.

Dr. Mrs. Eugenia Date-Bah was accompanied by her husband, His Lordship Justice Samuel K. Date-Bah who is Chairman of the University Council. Present at the ceremony were the Director of Public Affairs, Mrs. Stella A. Amoa and the Director of Finance, Mr. Richard Boapea.
