Church Breaks Grounds for Construction of School

Light Stream Chapel, a church situated in the Pagos Island Community in Oldest Congo Town, outside Monrovia, has broken grounds for the construction of a high school.

The church currently runs the Light Stream Academy, a Junior High School, which offers quality education at low tuition cost.

The Light Stream Academy is said to have benefited huge number of community residents, especially the underprivileged, who cannot afford to send their children to expensive.

Program marking the ground breaking for the construction of the proposed Light Stream High School was held at the Church's compound on Sunday, June 30, 2013.

Speaking at the program, the Founder and Overseer of the Light Stream Chapel and Light Stream Academy, Pastor David S. Fatorma, disclosed that the construction of the two-storey building will cost the church US$ 300,000. He said the ground breaking for the construction of the school in the community are a dream come true. Pastor Fatorma called on Liberians to embrace such a developmental initiative that will in turn impact the lives of children in post conflict Liberia.

According to him, the grounds breaking ceremony is the beginning of the fulfillment of the entire project.

"This is a defining moment for the church, the community and the nation at large. This project will be a great blessing for the community. This is a Liberian thing, and we all must embrace it. It is time to prove that something good can come from Nazareth," Pastor Fatorma, amongst other things added.

For his part, the Administrative Assistant in the office of Montserrado County District #5 Representative Thomas Fallah, stressed the need for the provision of quality education for the children of Liberia. Mr. Stanley Y. Zahn noted that taken into account the huge challenges that the country faces, the need for quality education can't be overemphasized.

He added that the failure to do this will have an effect on the future of young people, who are considered as the future of the country.
