Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr Samuel Yaw Adusei, has invited all to work together to rein in the growing greed and selfishness in the society.
He said the obsession with money and other material wealth was becoming a major threat to the moral foundation of the country and this was something that needed to be of concern to everybody.
He was addressing the fourth graduation ceremony of the Spiritan University College at Ejisu.
Thirty-three (33) students including one female graduated and were awarded with degrees.
Mr Adusei said the expectation was that the graduating students would combine their academic knowledge and moral training to make a difference and inspire a change.
They should be disciplined and show strong commitment to the service of God, nation and humanity.
He gave high marks to the Catholic Church for its tremendous contribution to the promotion of education.
The Reverend Father Anthony Anomah, acting Rector of the University College, urged the graduates to become worthy ambassadors of the institution by upholding the values of hard work and integrity.
He reminded them that they were going into a complex and materialistic world and would need to be firm and strong in their faith and convictions.
The Most Rev. Peter Kwasi Sarpong, Emeritus Archbishop of Kumasi and Chancellor of the University College, urged them to stand up for the truth at all times.
Doing this, he said, was not going to be easy and would require courage – they should not be frightened
