This is to level the ground before actual work begins in July.
The Volta Regional Minister, Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo visited the site of the University with some Members of Parliament (MPs) from the Region on Tuesday.
The 20 million -dollar project is being financed by the Chinese Government and expected to be completed in 18 months.
Yoang Jun Guand, Technical Head of the Construction Firm, said by the end of June, the ground works would be done to pave way for the construction of lecture halls, laboratories, libraries and activity centres among other facilities.
He said the Company is doing feasibility studies to see if it could work simultaneously on two other sites.
Professor Fred Binka, Vice Chancellor of UHAS said the Chinese Company would also put up an eight semi-detached bungalows for lecturers of the University while Social Security and National Insurance Trust would construct 500 unit hostel for students.
Nii Afotey Agbo who expressed dissatisfaction about the project said: “This is a clear sign of our former President Mills’ promise. We are happy and we will continue.”
He said UHAS would create a lot of opportunities for businesses and urged entrepreneurs to begin exploring their chances.
