First Lady Students' Bible Project
A former First Lady, Dr. Mrs. Ernestina Naadu Mills, wife of the late President John Evans Atta Mills, has launched the Ghana First Lady Senior High School (SHS) Students' Bible Project at Aburi in the Eastern Region.

The project, which was initiated by the former First Lady, is aimed at encouraging and inspiring students in the SHS across the country to lead moral and responsible lifestyles for national development.

A total of 500,000 Bibles, printed by the Tyndale House Publishers in the United States (US) at a cost of GH¢10,000, would be shared among SHS students by the Scripture Union (SU) Ghana.

Launching the project, Dr. Mrs. Naadu Mills disclosed that before her late husband became President, they had prayed to God to give them the opportunity to influence affairs of Ghana, hence the initiation of the project.

Dr. Mrs. Naadu Mills, who is a past student and former teacher of Aburi Girls SHS, exhorted the students to remain devoted to God, and to develop a personal relationship with Him.

"My late husband and I loved God's word, and after his demise, the Bible remains my most important source of comfort and encouragement. By the word of God, you can overcome any challenge that you face in life, and it will help you take responsibility of your own lives," she said.

Dr. Mrs. Naadu Mills urged the students to study, memorise and obey the words of God, since it could guide them to address challenges such as inter-tribal and general conflicts, diseases and poverty.

Vice President Paa Kwasi Amissah Arthur, who graced the occasion, commended Dr. Mrs. Naadu Mills for her vision, saying, "It would go a long way to transform the country, since the lifestyles of our future leaders will be shaped through the word of God."

He urged students to let the Bible be their source of guide in their studies and decision making. Mr. Jude Hammer and Mr. Kwame Adu, immediate past and incumbent General Directors of the SU, respectively, eulogised the former First Lady for her support for the Union.

Mr. Jude Hammer and Mr. Kwame Adu pledged to support the project.

Ms. Rosemond Bampoe, Headmistress of the Aburi Girls SHS, said the project was timely to address the unacceptable behaviour of the youth in society.

She expressed gratitude to Dr. Mrs. Naadu Mills for supporting the school with cash and musical instruments.
