The Accra East Rotary Club has donated teaching and learning materials valued at GH¢20,000 to the Fomena Community Library to boost the standard of education in the community.

The donation followed an appeal by an indigene of Fomena, who expressed worry about the falling standard of education in the town.

The teaching and learning materials would benefit pupils from the Kindergarten to the Senior High School level.

The Regent of Fomena, Baffour Aboagye Agyemang II, expressed worry about the continuous falling standard of education in Fomena and its surrounding communities.

He bemoaned the deterioration of the library, which was constructed by the Member of Parliament for the area, and hoped the books donation would rekindle the use of the facility.

Baffour Aboagye Agemang II thanked the Accra East Rotary Club for the assistance, and pleaded with them to extend their gesture to other institutions in other parts of the district.

The regent disclosed that the Adansi Traditional Council would set up a scheme as soon as possible to reward students who patronise the library, as a step towards raising the standard of education at Fomena.

Rotarian Francis Kwasi Nuamah, on behalf of the Accra East Rotary Club, which donated the books, at the ceremony asked parents to encourage their wards to cultivate the habit of reading, and thus patronise the library to broaden their knowledge.
