Kaimenyi who holds a PhD in Dentistry was the first full professor of periodontology at the UoN.
He is a member of the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board, a trustee of Regina Pacis University College - A constituent College of the Catholic University of Eastern Africa.
Kaimenyi is a Honorary Fellow of the International College of Dentists and has previously held several key positions including the President of the Commonwealth Dental Association, and the head of the National Dental Unit at the Kenyatta National Hospital.
He is married with five children.
If approved by the Parliamentary Committee on Appointments he will be tasked with overseeing the implementation of the Jubilee program for issuing laptops to students joining primary schools next year.
He is also expected to undertake measures geared towards improving Kenya's quality of and access to education by first increasing the number of schools in disadvantaged areas and restrict class sizes to a maximum of 40 students.
He is also expected to oversee the increase in student-teacher ratio to one teacher for every 40 students.
Kaimenyi was nominated by President Uhuru Kenyatta and unveiled at State House on Thursday, where he committed to being a team player in the delivery of the goals in the Jubilee manifesto for the education sector.
