TASUBA was among four Tanzanian training institutions that had qualified to be accorded the East African Centre of Excellence status.Minister for East African Cooperation Samuel Sitta said when moving in the Parliament the 2013/14 revenue and expenditure estimates for the ministry named other institutions as Dar es Salaam Maritime Institute (DMI), Moshi University of Cooperatives and Business Studies (MUCCOBs) and Mweka Wildlife College.
He said EAC Partner States have agreed to appoint one among the qualifying institutions as the first centre of excellence to be facilitated by the Community. In this regard, Sitta said, Tanzania has appointed TASUBA.
He also said that the ministry in collaboration with stakeholders in Arts and Culture, coordinated and participated in the festival on Arts and Culture of East Africa called 'Jumuiya Afrika Mashariki Utamaduni Festival' (JAMAFEST).
The festival was held in February this year in Kigali, Rwanda. Sitta said during the festival, Tanzania was able to promote herself and build relationship with people from other partner states.
Moreover, he said, participants were able to sell cultural and artistic ware like apparel and Kiswahili books, decorations and handicrafts.
