American University of Nigeria Alumnus to Attend Tanzania Wildlife Workshop

The workshop will train him on the software that monitors wildlife conservation.

"There are very few Africans who specialize in conservation," said Mr. Geoffrey, adding that "I am very pleased to have this opportunity to learn how to use this wonderful new technology that will be very useful to those of us who work in this field."

Commenting on the selection, the AUN President, Margee Ensign, said "All of us at AUN are very proud of Nacha Geoffrey's work in conservation, commitment to continuing his education, and are thrilled that he has been chosen to attend this workshop."

As the first alumnus to study conservation biology, Mr. Geoffrey had previously attended a Society for Conservation Biology conference in Ghana.

"I believe I will be among the first conservationists to receive this training. I plan to use it to benefit Nigeria and Africa as a whole," he said.

Mr. Geoffrey graduated in 2009 from the AUN. He studied Natural and Environmental Science and won a highly competitive scholarship to attend the United Kingdom's Oxford Brookes University. He received a graduate degree in Conservation Biology in 2012.
