Kimpa Vita University Projects Creation of Botanic Garden

The Principal of the public Kimpa Vita University, Carlos Diakanamua, last Friday in Ndalatando, northern Kwanza Norte Province, announced that his institution has a project turned to the creation of a botanic garden, aimed at strengthening scientific research in various areas of knowledge.

The official made this statement when delivering a speech at the opening of the First International Conference organised by the Kimpa Vita University, happening under the motto "University as a propeller of the development of the provinces of Kwanza Norte and Uige", having added that the institution also intends to create a laboratory for research in the domain of community health, besides the implementation of an experimental farm, holding research works on medicinal plants, among other actions linked to the scientific research filed.

Carlos Diakanamua explained that the mentioned initiaitves aim to show the commitment of the institution to making scientific research a priority of its action programme.

He also seized the occasion to praise the eleven years of peace in Angola, whose main benefits include the expansion of higher education to the whole country, with highlight on the Kimpa Vita University, which covers the provinces of Kwanza Norte and Uige.

Among the personalities attending the conference are the minister of Higher Education, Adão do Nascimento, and the Principal of the Kimpa Vita University, Carlos Diakanamwa, as well as representatives of the provincial governments of Kwanza Norte and Uige.

The public Kimpa Vita University was created in 2011.
