74 Unilorin Students Face Disciplinary Panel

University of Ilorin
Seventy four students of the University of Ilorin who were recently picked up on campus over indecent dressing have appeared before the university's disciplinary panel.

The students appeared before the panel on Tuesday to answer questions on why they put on dresses that contravene the university's dress code, Daily Trust gathered.

The affected students that cut across different faculties of the university were, two weeks ago, served with summon letter to appear before the panel.

It was gathered that the erring students who were mostly female pleaded guilty of flouting the university's regulations on dress code before the panel, and that they were asked to sign an undertaking not to repeat the offence.

"Being first offenders, the university was magnanimous enough to pardon them consequent upon their promise to comply with the dress code", said an official of the university who pleaded anonymity.

The source added, "Unilorin has a dress code and as a university, we don't make mess of our policy. So, this dress code is a continuous thing to ensure regular compliance of students".

Speaking with Daily Trust, the Deputy Director, Corporate Affairs of the university, Mr. Kunle Akogun, said the exercise is routine "to check unruly behaviour and maintain the university standard".
