12 College Staff to Be Dismissed Over Admission Scam

The committee set up by the College of Education, Minna, Niger State to investigate admission racketeering in the collage has recommended the dismissal of 12 staff from service following their involvement in the scam.

The college's provost Professor Farouk Haruna announced this in Minna yesterday while submitting a report to state Commissioner of Higher Education Dr. Mohammed Bashir Nuhu.

Those recommended for dismissal are Mohammed Shabako, Danlami Abubakar, Garba Ibrahim Gballu, Iman Mohammed Sanusi, Usman Musa Jibrin, Suleiman Ahmed, Umar S. Yabagi, Umar Ndaman, Zakariya Ibrahim, Abubakar Ndabini, Umar Salihu and Aliyu N. Ibrahim.

Mohammed Bello Waziri, Hassan Ibrahim Mohammed and Yusuf Ibrahim were recommended for suspension while Musa Farouk Mohammed was exonerated of any involvement in the scam.

Submitting the report, the provost said five others found to be involved in the fraud were banned from entering the college and they were handed over to the police for prosecution. Haruna said a total of 7,894 students including Pre-NCE and 100 level students were screened out of which 1,000 fake admission letters were intercepted while 5,000 new admission letters were issued to the genuine candidates.

Receiving the report, the commissioner assured that government would implement the committee's report letter.
