University of Dubai’s Annual Job Fair gathers hundreds of job seekers

Hundreds of University of Dubai ( UD ) students and alumni attended the annual Job Fair this week to hand out resumes in hopes of landing employment at a variety of leading public and private UAE companies.

University of Dubai President Dr. Omar Hefni said, “The job fair is very important and beneficial for the university, students and employers. It exposes companies to some very talented individuals who are eager to enter the workforce. And for the students, it is important to know the prospective employer.

 Graduating from university is a very pivotal time – the decisions our students make now will affect the rest of their life – we want we want them to be educated about their options and the job fair provides the perfect setting for that.”

Ramah Farache, a student of UD ‘s College of Business Administration, who will graduate in 2015, said he is interested in seeking an internship at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), a prestigious accountancy firm.

 “It’s one of the leading finance firms in the world and they have their own academy here where I can get my CFA,” he said. “I would like to join a company with a good working environment, good salary, security and the opportunity to travel abroad, which I love to do.”

Mayama Mohammed, a marketing student, submitted her resume to companies such as Emirates NBD , Flydubai and ENOC because they have good reputations and she likes the benefits and incentives offered to applicants.

This is UD ‘s fourth Job Fair and the number of participating companies has grown every year. Virgin Megastore, part of the Azadea Group, participated for the first time this year and representatives of the company were pleased with the result. ” UD has a good number of local students who can fill positions in our Marketing Department,” a representative said. “We are glad to join this Job Fair where we have the opportunity to inform bright students of our current vacancies and to explain the business side of our company.”

Imad Al Din, HR Administrator of Emirates NBD , explained the bank’s Program for Accelerated Learning (PAL) to students and alumni, which enables UAE national graduates to join a comprehensive, in-depth program for professional and personal development and growth, to prepare them for a variety of Management and Officer roles within the bank.
Amina El Marzak, Director of Student and Alumni Affairs, said, “We are extremely pleased with the success of this year’s Job Fair.

Many of our alumni who are holding managerial and key positions in different organizations were hired through our Job Fairs. We have great employment opportunities all in one room and this gives our students the chance to meet potential employers, increase their awareness about business in Dubai and to serve other purposes such as networking and be able to practice their interviewing skills.”

This year, the job fair offered a variety of companies in both private and public sectors, from large, international corporations to local, specialized firms such as Bab Al Shabab, Bayt.com, Carrefour, Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, Dubai Air Navigation Services, Dubai Courts, Economic Zones World, Emirates NBD , Ershaad.ae, Fly Dubai, Freight Systems Co. Ltd. (LLC), Gradberry.com, Jumeirah Group, Mashreq, Mawaarid Finance, M.H. Alshaya, Nabbesh.com, Next Level Management Consultancy, Pact Employment Services, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), Robert Bosch Middle East, Serco Middle East and Virgin Megastore.
