The Chinese central authority has named a physicist to replace the current president of the country’s prestigious Peking University, a statement on the official website of the Ministry of Education said.
Wang En’ge, vice president and provost of Peking University, will replace Zhou Qifeng, who is to retire from the post due to his age, the organizational department of the central committee of the Communist Party of China announced on Friday.
Wang is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Zhou was appointed the President of Peking University in 2008.
