ADEC, Japan sign MoU on international ties

Abu Dhabi, UAE: Feb 10th, 2013 (WAM)–The Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Japan International Cooperation Center (JICE) during the Abu Dhabi Japan Economic Forum organized by the Department of Economic Development (DED).

The move aims to strengthen the global partnerships and international cooperation.

Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, ADEC’s Director General and Kazuhisa Matsuoka, President of JICE signed the MoU to help encourage students from across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi to study in universities in Japan.

” ADEC’s collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Center (JICE) aims to increase the number of university options for our youth, with special emphasis on Science, Engineering and Technology subjects, all job sectors that need to be filled as part of Abu Dhabi’s socio-economic development,” said Dr. Al Khaili.

Matsuoka said, “JICE has dedicated to capacity buildings for foreign countries for over 35 years. All of our activities are based upon the idea that human aspect is the foundation of the nation building. With our experience and idea, JICE will contribute human resource development of Abu Dhabi. It is great honor that we could collaborate with ADEC and could share our wisdom and experience for our bright future. ” In addition, the agreement grants JICE a Human Recourses Development Center in ADEC’s new headquarters, where JICE counselors will be available to help offer advice to students on which universities are available in Japan in accordance to their choice of studies, with special emphasis on Science and Technology. The centre will promote not only Japanese Universities but also promote vocational training programmes, seminar and cultural exchange.

“In order to help transform Abu Dhabi into a knowledge based economy, ADEC aims to raise the quality of Abu Dhabi’s higher education system to an internationally recognised level as well as align education with Abu Dhabi’s social, cultural and economic needs. In order to do so we must exchange academic expertise as well as expose our youth to different types of cultures and educational practices,” said Dr. Al Khaili.
