SKKU announced that it has completed the establishment of the next generation’s global learning management system (LMS) for self-directed learning for learners on July 22 (Wed). The LMS stands for Learning Management System, which means a system that integrates and manages students’ grades, progress, and attendance online.
Since 2003, SKKU has been supporting students to study efficiently through an online learning management system called "icampus". And, this next generation’s global learning management system has taken them a step closer to creating an educational environment where students actively learn and discuss.
Since January 2019, SKKU has been working with XINICS to establish the next generation’s global learning management system suitable for high-tech educational environments such as online lectures and flip learning. Additionally, it has officially opened the system to support data sharing and communication systems between professors and students using smart platform since the first semester of this year.
With the establishment of this system, SKKU has made a big leap forward in terms of the learning management system by providing various devices and OS optimization, planning flow of self-directed learning such as video, quiz, and discussion, operating efficient evaluation through analysis of quiz and function of convenient grading, supporting various interactive learning such as team activity, peer review, and use of rubric, and providing real-time survey/vote/quiz application optimized for discussion class.
In addition, it is expected that the lecture storage and contents management system will provide fast and stable services through multi-channel high-definition screen recording, function to automatically create table of contents, writing tools for contents, establishment of integrated contents management and distribution system such as lecture video, class materials, and lecture recording video, and expansion of server and storage.
A staff from SKKU explained, "The establishment of the next generation’s global learning management system suggests a standard model of university’s online learning in the circumstance of COVID-19.”
